Music

At Resurrection Christian Academy, we believe that music is a vital part of a well-rounded education. From Pre-JK to Grade 8, our students develop an appreciation for music through singing, rhythm, and movement. Beginning in Grade 3, students are introduced to instruments, building skills in technique, teamwork, and creativity. Music enhances cognitive development, fosters confidence, and provides a meaningful way for students to express their faith and emotions. Through engaging lessons, performances, and worship opportunities, our music program inspires a lifelong love of music while glorifying God through joyful praise.

Lower School

In Lower School, students begin their musical journey by exploring their singing voices—their very first instrument. Through simple songs, rhythm instruments, dancing, and games, they learn the basics of beat, rhythm, and melody while developing creativity, leadership, and group collaboration. They also begin to listen critically to different kinds of music and are introduced to reading and writing basic music notation.

Grade 3/4

Students in Grades 3 and 4 are introduced to the recorder, which helps them grow in musical literacy and coordination. They learn to read notes and rhythms on a staff, explore musical dynamics, and continue developing their ability to play in a group while sharpening their eye, ear, and finger coordination.

Grade 5-8

Starting in Grade 5, students select and learn a band instrument with their teacher’s guidance. They build on foundational skills from earlier years and focus on ensemble playing—understanding how their individual part contributes to the full band sound. They continue to advance in reading music, rhythm, dynamics, and technique as they grow as musicians.
