Academic Overview
Kindergarten
Kindergarten at RCA is a joyful next step in your child’s learning journey. Building on the strong foundation set in our preschool program, Kindergarten is where students begin to apply early skills, gain independence, and grow in confidence as learners. With small class sizes and nurturing teachers, every child is known, loved, and encouraged to shine.
Our program blends play-based exploration with structured learning in key areas like phonics, printing, numeracy, and early reading. Daily Bible stories and character lessons help children grow spiritually, while hands-on activities and classroom routines encourage independence, creativity, and critical thinking. It's a year where foundational skills and Christian values go hand in hand.
What makes RCA Kindergarten special is the richness of the experience. Weekly chapel, French through music and games, reading buddies with older students, and special events like Grandparents’ Day and the Christmas musical create a rhythm of meaningful moments throughout the year. Our outdoor space, designed just for JK and SK students, is full of opportunities for active play, imagination, and seasonal fun—from bike riding to winter sledding.
Field trips to places like working farms, pumpkin patches, and even gymnastics centers bring learning to life beyond the classroom. Through it all, our students are supported in becoming thoughtful, confident, and compassionate individuals—ready for the adventures ahead.
At RCA, Kindergarten is more than just a school year—it’s a time of discovery, delight, and deepening roots. We’re honoured to walk alongside families in this important season and to help children grow into learners and leaders grounded in faith and love.
Lower School
(Grade 1-4)
At RCA, the Lower School years (Grades 1–4) are a time of discovery, confidence-building, and character development. With small class sizes, passionate teachers, and a Christ-centered approach, students are equipped to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Our enriched curriculum exceeds Ontario standards and includes hands-on learning in Language Arts, Math, Science, French, Music, Technology, and the Arts. From novel studies and cursive writing to coding basics and oral French, students build key skills through engaging, age-appropriate activities. Creativity, movement, and outdoor play are part of everyday life, helping students thrive in and out of the classroom.
More than academics, RCA focuses on shaping the whole child. Our classrooms are grounded in Biblical teaching and Christ-like love, supporting students as they learn empathy, build friendships, and grow in confidence. These early years lay the foundation for lifelong learning, and we’re honoured to partner with families to help each child discover their God-given potential.
Upper School
(Grade 5-8)
Upper School at RCA (Grades 5–8) is a time of transformation, discovery, and growing independence. In a Christ-centered environment, students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning while developing strong academic and personal foundations. With a rotary schedule and subject-specific teachers, students explore each subject in greater depth. Hands-on learning in spaces like the Makers Room, Tech Room, Science Lab, and Music Room brings lessons to life—whether they’re building robots, editing videos, conducting experiments, or playing instruments.
Beyond the Ontario curriculum, RCA offers engaging, spiritually grounded learning that prepares students for high school and beyond. Math, Science, French, Art, and Music challenge students to think creatively and critically, while physical education promotes teamwork and healthy living. Daily Crew Time, Bible classes, and weekly chapel encourage spiritual growth, while leadership roles like student council and praise team build confidence and character. RCA’s Upper School shapes students into thoughtful, capable individuals ready to thrive and make an impact.
